Geneva
is one of the most park-friendly cities in the world, with more than 25 percent
of the city dedicated to public green spaces and parks. The closest to our headquarters at the Hotel
Edelweiss in the Les Pâques district was just a few blocks away down the lake promenade at the Conservatoire Et Jardin Botanique De
Genève, a 70-acre park and botanical garden wedged between Lake Geneva and the
United Nations.
Founded
in 1817, the park’s botanical gardens include a living collection of 14,000
species of 249 different families and feature a elegant greenhouse, rock
gardens, libraries and collections and two mansions -- Le Chene and La Console
-- and a zoo dedicated to conservation. The site, which is popular with runners and walkers of all strips, became our exercise circuit during
our stay in Geneva.
